Inspect Blow-out
Step 1 (Photo 1): We start by sounding the area and cutting back the broken corner around the railing post. All loose spalled concrete gets removed until we hit solid material and can see what caused the blowout.
Reinforce and Prep
Step 2 (Photo 2): With the cavity opened up, we clean and treat the steel, then drill and epoxy pins/dowels so the patch is mechanically locked in. We tie in reinforcement, prep the substrate, and set the forms so the rebuilt edge comes back straight and tight.
Install and Float
Step 3 (Photo 3): We place a high-strength repair mortar, pack it tight, and finish the face to match the existing profile. After proper curing, we seal the post base and coat/paint as needed so water doesn’t restart the concrete spalling.
